Friday 21st May was my last official day working for someone else, and so technically today is the first day for me of being self employed….!  Some might say I’m crazy, some might wonder why…for me it is simple – life is just too short to live with regrets and never knowing what could have been.  So, I’m going to follow my dream (cheesey yes I know, but oh so true!).

I’ve always been interested in photography, taking my first few photos when I was about 8 years old with my younger sister Siobain posing in the garden (she was only 1 years old…but made a very good model don’t you think! hehe).  Over the following years it has always been there in the background, with me taking it more and more seriously these past few years.  When the company I worked for announced redundancy recently, it seemed like a golden opportunity…and so here I am.  Little me with lots of ideas and dreams, setting out on a huge adventure…

I’ve been very blessed with meeting some amazing photographers, without whom I would not be where I am today.  Special thanks to Mike and David at ‘The Trained Eye‘ who have given me invaluable support and advice.  Also, I’ve been lucky enough to work alongside the talented David McNeil, who has given me great opportunities to learn and grow as a wedding photographer over the past year.  I will continue to work with David in the coming year where I can, whilst at the same time building up my own client base (as I’m sure you’re aware it is tough starting out on a new business venture – a successful wedding photography business doesn’t happen over night).  However, please note that all of the images on this blog and my website are taken by me, edited by me and 100% copyrighted to me   Already as I launch Annamarie Stepney Photography, I have a handful of bookings in my diary for this year and next….and that is without any official advertising as yet!

So, there you have it…a little about me and my background and how I got to be in front of you today writing this.  Most importantly, you can be confident knowing that when you book me, you will receive real, fun, fresh images that capture who you are and that will always remind you of those special moments in your life that you will go onto treasure, along with a personal and friendly service.
